So I haven't dropped off the planet.... I am alive and doing very well!
We have had a few extremely busy months. The store (Signs & Wonders Home Decor) is doing amazing, the kids are growing and changing and funnier than ever, the farm and garden are hanging in there, Ryan's job is awesome and we are crazy but happy! Some days I feel that only my nose is left above water, the legs and arms are moving frantically to keep me going and so far no water in the lungs!
With that being said, I feel more blessed than I ever have in my life. The Lord guides and directs me every day and somehow it always works out. There are days that we run from one thing to the next and I feel like I just don't have enough time...then an angel comes to rescue me. I am surrounded by them. All of these amazing angels that love me and my children and are constantly there to help us along.
I have four little employees that are definately some of my angels. They have been a great asset and help in making the store successful and grow. Sheryl (also my visiting teacher- Awesome- brought me butterfingers the other day just cause she knew I needed it) is there everyday handling the till and weeding vinyl so I can DO. I have always thought it was crazy how often I hear "mom", but with the store I am shocked at how many times a day I hear " Dakota". Getting anything done is nearly impossible with all the vendors, customers and advertisers! So glad that I have helpers. I can't tell you how wonderful Steph is with the customer. She lights that place up! She's an incredible hard worker and gets the job done. Nick appears from nowhere quite often and puts in the 1 hour of work that I am behind on and gets those shipments to the post office by 5:30 even though some days its 5:29. Even when he's not scheduled he shows up between classes or whatever to help me out...love it! And Nicole is my calming presence that ALWAYS relaxes and helps me know that no matter what the chaos, its gonna be okay. She listens like nobody else can, she treats people with such respect and kindness, and she cleans like the place is a temple! You can't help but absolutely adore her, and I might say that with as much as we look alike I think she was meant to be one of my sisters all along! Lucky for all of us we nabbed her to join us later in life (thanks Nick). So to my four worker angels...thanks!
Quickly a shoutout to the over 150 (including nursery) primary angels I get to enjoy each week at church. These children just are amazing. Their simple testimonies of their Savior Jesus Christ and their faith in the gospel is astounding. I love the answers they give to questions. Specifically, we asked them what they needed to do to return to live with their Father in Heaven? We got a myriad of answers, pray, read scriptures, etc. Then one girl pipes up with "It's simple, just choose the right. That covers everything" Profound! I am so glad I can serve amongst them and feel of their sweet little spirits!
Now, to my four angels. This will probably be the shortest paragraph because its hard to type through the tears. I will say that just like every mother I am not always happy with the choices they make. But I am so pleased with the young men that they are. I love to kiss those little faces, to wipe away their tears, to hold them tight when they need it (or I do), to laugh, to chase, to play, to work, and just to watch and listen. These boys are what make life worth all of its ups and downs. Our little Bubbers cracks me up with all that he says now. He LOVES to tease the boys and will do anything he can to make them laugh or pay attention to him. His newest thing is to run himself directly into something and then fall to the ground in pretend pain or run the other direction screaming just to get the boys to laugh. Or he will force out a burp, or the sound of one. Kid cracks me up. Boys taught him to say "Bob" anytime you ask him his name and he already says that he's 2 when you ask how old he is. He is my busy one. Canoe is just graduated Kindergarten (where did that go?) and is FULL of it. On his 6th birthday last week he was lying on the floor with a bloody nose(quite common around here. they get it from their mother...sorry boys) and was saying "I'm so Saxy. I am soooo SAXY. I am the only one who is SAXY today" When asked what saxy meant he said "its when something changes from one thing to something else. Today I changed from 5 to 6. So I am Saxy" What!?! Hahahaha! Then when I said to the boys they needed to wear suncreen so they don't get fried, he said "like fried chicken, bgock!" Really!?! what a nut! Blue, or BDawg as he is better known these days is so incredibly sweet and although he can hold is own in a spat with his brothers, he completely melts when his feelings get hurt or when he thinks momma is mad at him. I mean full on sobs. He wants so badly to please me and to be friends with his brothers. NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, can give a hug like BDawg! I almost want to tell him its bedtime when its not just so I can get one of those great hugs and kisses. I just ask for one and I always get it. And this kid is smart as a whip! Constantly suprising me with new stuff.
Red is a redhead and can be a pill, but also can be my very best helper. He likes to tease the boys, and wants to always get his way (I wonder where he gets that). And he thinks he is in charge of everything everyone (must get that from his Dad). I love when I can put him in charge because I know that its gonna get done. I just have to remind him before hand that he is to do it kindly :) . He has learned how to ring people up at the store. And between him and BDawg they take great care of the little guys (except for diapers). Four great brothers and four great sons! I am delighted and honored to be their mommy.
And my eternal companion is an angel that I will never know how I was blessed with and I am so grateful that I was. I don't have to tell any of you how amazing he is because anyone that knows us, already knows. AMAZING. Kind, gentle, loving, hard worker, great daddy, honors his priesthood, cooks a mean dinner (anything really) and patient as all get out. He puts up with me and my shananigans every day for crying out loud. He is a saint! I love him incredibly and I am so grateful that we walk hand and hand, together side by side throughout this life and eternity. Love you Petie.
Quite literally this week an angel watched over my children to remind me that God is still in the miracle business. While at the store, the boys were in the "big room" (ballroom upstairs) and there was a crash so loud I knew there was something quite wrong..I then realized they were all terrified and right there to tell me about it. They had just gone upstairs...maybe 1 minute earlier. When they got there they saw one of the large dance studio mirrors coming away from the wall. They went closer to inspect it and Red reached his hand out to touch it. It came crashing down off the wall and shattered on the floor sending pieces of glass in all directions and directly at the boys and their babysitter. Gratefully both Red and Canoe, who were both in the crash zone were able to move out of the way before the 4' by 6' mirror shattered on top of their little bodies and were only hit by the smaller pieces bouncing off the floor. There was no luck about it. An angel blessed and watched over my children when I couldn't. I know that God loves me and my children. I know is aware of my love for Him and He knows that I love my boys. I know that He has a plan for each of us and that through our life's choices we can return to live with Him again. I know that my continual faith and prayer blesses me on a daily basis. I am so grateful to my Father in Heaven for his infinite wisdom and love. I look forward to the day when I will be tenderly embraced by Him. When all is crazy and I feel lost, He keeps me grounded, He keeps me going, He keeps me smiling, and I love Him. Thank you Father for your protection and the angels you have sent to watch over me and my dear boys!
I believe there are angels among us. Sent down to us from somewhere up above. They come to you and me in our darkest hour. To show us how to live. To teach us how to give. To guide us with the light of love.......
